Ah, the clean and fresh feeling of September. We’re a few days in and I’ve had the pleasure of listening to friends and acquaintances talking about that September feeling – that excited nervousness that comes with the first day of school, returning to structure, and reestablishing goals of well being, creating balance in life, or stating something new.
I stumbled upon the quote above when trying to find ways to describe that September feeling and that last line couldn’t have been more perfect … “as if last year’s mistakes had been wiped clean by summer.” For many, September feels like a time to start over, whether it’s mixing up our day-to-day routine by beginning a new hobby or forming a new habit, or overhauling everything and beginning anew. Whatever the case may be, feelings of insecurities and shyness may come forth, leaving us question what is we’re doing after the excitement of the change has worn off.
Using essential oils can help us work through the feelings that stand in our way of success. From an emotional standpoint, Cassia oil enhances the thrill of life and brings forth boldness to the heart and soul. It keeps us from holding back and hiding as it releases fear, replacing it with confidence and self-assurance. It aids in the discovery of our natural talents and gifts, inviting us to shine our light and be authentic.
Cassia comes from the cinnamon family and has a warm, even spicy fragrance with a hint of sweetness. Physically, Cassia is antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral, being used to help fight colds, improve circulation, and has even been shown to elevate mood! This oil can be used on skin (be sure to dilute the oil as it can irritate skin), or diffused using a cold-air diffuser.
I love making a Cassia-Bergamot body oil to use to warm me up and give me a little boost of confidence. Place 10 drops Cassia oil and 15-20 drops Bergamot oil into a 2 oz bottle. Fill the rest of the bottle with a carrier oil such as coconut, apricot, grapeseed, or almond oil and shake well. Apply directly on to skin after shower. (Note, if you have very sensitive skin, use less Cassia oil if needed.)
